A few times in the past I've had to manually P2V systems because of this type scenario and I use Symantec Norton Ghost to image the systems with an exclusion file thus creating an image without the unwanted files. Next I dumped that image to a VM and then manually rectified the hardware differential for the Mass Storage Controller and Keyboard modifying Windows Registry entries and injecting drivers as necessary, thus allowing it it to boot without BSOD. Then finished cleaning up the now phantom hardware and removing any software the was specific for the source system that is not applicable in the VM.
