From what I’ve read the solution that you suggest has some pre-requisites:
- The new infra must be in the same network segment as the old infra, this provides the best NW bandwidth and allows the new hosts to connect to the old vCenter.
- For vMotion to work the old and new hosts must be EVC compatible right?
Do you see any other pre-requisites or preparatory steps in the new infra? (e.g. two SAN’s and storage arrays, no need for shared storage between hosts)
Supposing that it’s a feasible solution and I can connect the new hosts to the old vCenter and do the vMotion, can provide an high level tasks description and sequence for a migration plan.
