Sorry I always refer to the vCenter Server as the managment server.
No probs. While it is not required to reinstall the vCenter Server itself due to this, because:
1. It makes a db reference call to the function called by the VI client
2. If any issues due to firewall or antivirus, then accessing other functionalities of the vCenter Server will also be affected [meaning port blocking]
3. Just to make sure that your vCenter server and the vSphere client are up to date.
For temp files, look under user,local settings, temp,vmware-blabalah, remove them, and in temp folder of c:\windows\temp\vmware-temp\
Do uninstall the client first, then remove the folders and reinstall the client [the latest one in sync with your "managment server"]
