Greetings -- Need a hand...
Been running Vmware Workstation since r8. Upgraded to r9 (9.0.1 build-894247) about a month ago. Ubuntu 12.04, 32bit host.
My Win XP guests will not pick up an IP via DHCP while in our office over the office WIFI connection (eht1 on host). It will DHCP in our office when using a wired connection (eth0 on host). When I am out in the field, using a different wifi router, DHCP works fine on guests.
This anomaly cropped up after tinkering with the network editor to try to get the bridged connection to only route wireless / eth0 traffic to the guest. In the Virtual Network Editor (VNE) I changed the bridged connection from "Automatic" to "eth0". That worked fine in the field.
Got back to the office and the guest would not DHCP. Back to VNE, changed bridged connection back to "Automatic". No dice. The guest will not DHCP when the host is connected to the LAN by WIFI. The guest will DHCP when the host is connected by a wire however.
Loopback verified in the guest, so tcp/ip appears to be functioning correctly. Vmware tools is up to date.
I'm working around it by setting a static IP in the guest. Did some Googling and came up dry. Anyone out there have any advice?
Thanks in advance.
