I am using HP G8 servers installed with the latest HP ESXi (12/2012) build. In vCops under All Metrics -> Sensors-> Temperature -> SensorName-> Temp C, I can see the temp recording and they are different per each temp sensor. However the data never changes in vCops. When viewing this data from the server's command line using:
esxcli hardware ipmi sdr list
I can see the temperature metrics change.
I have noticed this in multiple HP G8 Blade/Server environments.
Tracking this metric is very interesting to me as it could allow me to use vCops to track temperatures in the DC.
