I'm pretty sure this can be fixed. However, I need to know whether the VM was working after you created the snapshots or whether we can revert to the base disk without loosing data!?
To backup the files, I'd suggest you download them to a local disk. Provided you do have VMware Workstation installed on your local system, we could try to fix the issue with the local copy and upload the VM again after fixing the issue. This way the original files (the ones currently on the host) are not affected.
