I can see your point about that hacking thing, but I don't want to delete the tasks or events, I just don't want them being seen in the recent tasks or events window when the script runs.
I took a look at the KB article and discovered I could change the StatusTasksHeaderColumnProp registry entry column widths to 0. Nothing gets displayed in the recent tasks and events window or in the task view Tasks and Events tabs. If you switch over to the Events view all the events are displayed. The user can bring the Tasks view columns back by right clicking on the column header and selecting the column to view.
This will work perfectly for what I'm trying to do.
