Followed all the steps and they completed without error. However "Failed to setup build environment" But I know the problem itgs the same as with Fedora.
the openSUSE kernel 3.7.6-1.2-desktop does not have -devel files! This is probably because my openSUSE version is 12.3 RC1.
However the debug version of the kernel DOES have lthe kernel-devel files. So I will boot into that kernel and try again (after uninstalling vmware using just /usr/bin/vmware-instgaller -u vmwarfe-workstation (I do not believe I have to completely uninstall it -but perhaps I will anyway since I still have the modified vmbclock.tar in my home build directory. And yes I do have all the development files (c++ compilter etc). I'll let you knoiw in a day or so. Then I will try the same with Fedora Rawhide with a 3.8 kernel - assuming I can find the debug kernel.
Croosinig my fingers. Thanks for your expert instructions!!
the debug version does not boot and even if it did it would run at 1/10 speed. However the trace kernel does boot and runs fine and has the devel files.
