There's an explanation given in the Persona Mgmt admin guide.
it goes something along the lines of "If you are on a quick connection, use GPO folder redirection. if there is latency use Persona Mgmt folder redirection."
Gpo folder redirection is a link to a remote location and View PM folder redirection will stream the contents of the folder.
