- running the update from within vmware workstation 9.0.0
- downloaded VMware-Workstation-Full-9.0.1-894247.x86_64.bundle
- sudo /usr/bin/vmware-installer -u vmware-workstation
All three steps end up in a GUI which says:
The VMware Installer could not shut down all
running virtual machines. If you have ACE
VMs open, please shut them down or suspend
them now and press 'Retry' to continue
I found the article in the knowledge base,
it is KB38: Manually uninstalling VMware Workstation from Linux hosts.
me@workpc:~$ sudo su -
root@workpc:~$ /etc/init.d/vmware stop
Stopping VMware services:

At least one instance of VMware VMX is still running.
Please stop all running instances of VMware VMX first.

It seems that some vm processes are still running, how can I shutdown them in a save way?
