VM (using Windows7 Pro) hangs after installation of OfficeScan v10.5

Hello,

I'm trying to add virus protection into my VMs on a Windows7 64bit Professional operating system. Until now, I've tried TrendMicro OfficeScan v10.5. After succesful installation, the VM just "hangs", so I can not even restart the VM or uninstall OfficeScan anymore. Have to rebuild the VM all over again. This happens dependable, each time I try.

Questions

(1) does anybody know of conflicts concerning the described program configuration?

(2) what could be the cause of this behavior? Are there possible workarounds?

(3) which alternative virus protection would work using Win7 and VMware Server v2 within a VM?

(4) would maybe another VMware virtualization product work smoothly together with OfficeScan?
