vReplication licensing question

Hi,

If I have a fully licensed ESXi 5.1 Enterprise Plus with a vCenter Standard and I configure a vReplication appliance to create a copy of a given VM, will I be able to place the destination replica on the storage belonging to a ESXi free edition or Essential edition? Or will both ends require at least Essential Plus licensing?
