VAAI is technically only included in Enterprise and Enterprise+, not Standard.
A plugin is not required for most vendors for block-based VAAI - it uses SCSI standards. For NFS VAAI, Ed is right, you'll need a vendor supplied plugin. EMC's plugin is also free.
