Hello,
I have an ESX 5.1 with 2 VMs (windows 2008 R2 64bit): one for Active directory and DNS however the other one for Vcenter.
the two machine is accessible and we can ping the ip and the hostname as well.
from Vcenter machine we tried the below:
ping IP of AD VM---> there is a reply
ping hostname of Vcenter---> there is a reply
from AD machine:
ping IP of VCenter VM---> there is a reply
ping hostname of AD---> there is a reply
and also we noticed that the ip address is registered in reserve lookup zone after adding a zone.
the problem appeared when i tried to install the Inventory Service of vmware. i received the below message:
"could not contact looup service. please check VM_SSOreg.log in system temporary folder for details"
and if I checked the log of the installation I obtain only one message of error "unable to connect to server".
I have downloaded many copies of Vcenter but we get the same result appeared.
Steps done:
1- I added the IP address for both machines c:\windows\systems32\drivers\etc.
the below message was disappeared:
"The Fully Qualified Domain Name cannot be resolved. If you continue the installation, some features might not work correctly" i has appeared many times during my installation.
2- Create 2 Vms on another subnet of the network with different IP address, the same message re-appeared"could not contact looup service. please check VM_SSOreg.log in system temporary folder for details""
3- I installed the Vcenter 5.0, it was installed without any problem. when i tried to upgrade and install the inventory service (because it recommended to upgrade inventory service before upgrade vcenter ), again i received ""could not contact looup service. please check VM_SSOreg.log"
4- downloaded many copies of vcenter 5.1 from vmware site but we obtain the same result.
5- reboot VMs many times and check the connectivity between two VMs(there is a reply from the ip and hostname).
any idea please.
