thats right - i wanted but i didn't...
the plan was to move the vmotion network to a seperate vlan. the first step was changing the ip-adress of the vmotion vmkernel port - not more (the vlan on the vm kernel port ist still native vlan1).
I have not changed anything on the management port (ip or vlan on the management port in esxi). the management interface is in the same vswitch where the vmotion port is.
The physical switch is configured with native vlan1 which is untagged and a vlan 10 which is tagged to the ports, where the network interface of the esxi is connected to.
i have 4 esxi machines. two of them worked fine after changing the ip of the vmkernel for vmotion. the other two are not available via management - that means that the vcenter could not reach them and i cand reach them via ping. the vm's still running without any problems.
I'm confused, because i thought that the vmkernel port of vmotion has nothing to do with the management vmkernel port in esxi...
hopefully that describes my problem??
