I worked with Saga from VM support and we were able to resolve the issue. Basically when I went to recreate the issue with him on the phone it started working. It appears that after it sat for an hour or so it started to work.
I mispoke; I used the Move To command from the datastore browser to move the VM folders between data stores.
So once the original Prep LUNs had been formatted and presented I was able to use them after an hour or so. Once I have moved all the VMs from DR to Prep I will umount the DR LUNs and have the SAN team enable the pairing and confirm SRM is still working.
