Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies.
I tried to use the physical SCSI sharing, it prevented my machines to migrate between the hosts.
In my case, I have a such a deice, that is raw (i.e. isn't formatted so it can't exposed as NFS/SMB), has SCSI interface (and not iSCSI), and I need to it to be shared between more than one VM (without losing vMotion).
I'm not dealing with a cluster here, its just more than one VM that need to access the same raw LUN. I agree, its like having multiple physical machines access the same hard drive, it might not be very common, but I don't think its such an exotic configuration either.
Tom, I'm not familiar with the "virtual RDM connections" you mentioned (2TB is good enough for me). If that can help me out here, I'll be glad if you could elaborate.
BTW, I did try to create an additional rdm link file with vmkfstool, but the action failed.
As far as I understood, one of the ideas behind RDM is to allow a VM to access a block device without (or at least minimize) the vSphere involvement, this lock on the RDM file is exactly the opposite of that...
