Thanks.

Didn't write any prep questions as such no. What I did was after I went on the ICM course I originally intended doing the exam a few weeks later, but a newborn and work ramping up put paid to that so 6 months elapsed.  I had a free exam voucher which i didn't realize expired in 4 weeks so that focused my mind.

My exam prep from then was setting up a home lab on my MacBook Pro.  16Gb ram and a 120Gb SSD worked wonderes for this and allowed me to have vCenter, DC, 2x ESXi Hosts, Openfiler iSCSI and 1x Autodeploy host and 1x ESXi4 host for upgrades all running at once without missing a beat.  I then read all 90% of Mastering vSphere 5 by Scott Lowe and made notes as I went in Evernote (allowed me to have notes at work and at home then).  As I went through this book I'd try the topics out like Autodeploy.  When I'd finished this book I started reading the blueprint and the docs it refered too, mainly the examples, resource guide and troubleshooitng.   For items I couldn't test in my lab like the VSA I read the whitepapers several times and also watched lots of youtube vids on the topic.

Following all this and in the last week or so I've read through the study guides:-

http://www.valcolabs.com/vmware-certified-professional-5/

http://blog.mwpreston.net/vcp-5/

This helped point me in the direction of some holes in my knowledge which I tend tested out in my lab.  I knew my weakest areas would be autodeploy, vDS, VSA and VDR so I concentrated on those (but only really got exams questions one of them).

That was it really.  I kept re-reading all my notes in Evernote at night and at work when I could.  I also tried a lot of mock exams, which were both good and bad.  The VMware Mock exam is the best, not because you get asked those questions but it really does teach you HOW the questions are worded and this is what counts.

Overall it was a very touch expeirence doing VCP5-DV.  I'm glad its over as its sucked up a large amount of time and it was my first real IT certification so was something I wanted to do and I'm glad I did
