thanks for the detailed reply! it helped a lot!

after you mentioned about the A/A mode of VM edge nodes which run ECMP and therefore do not run stateful services,

I started to check the document again and found that the installation guide (2.2 or 2.4) said "in active-standby mode the gateway can also provide stateful services".

 

is there any differences between my understanding and your experiences?  or the installation guide is basically correct but the throughput would be affected by stateful services?

Hi niceguy001, when the T0 Gateway is running in A/A (or ECMP mode) for the Service Router (SR), you can run stateful services on the Service Router. We are able to run stateless services in A/A mode, as stateless Edge Firewall. Please add the link with the information about stateful. I assume it is a documentation bug. I will open a documentation bug.

I had the same issue after upgrading to vCenter 6.5 with some existing 5.5 hosts that were not upgraded.

 

I tried assigning new licenses, re-assigning existing etc. No dice.

I connected to the ESXi host directly using the fat client and found that the host was showing that the evaluation license had expired. They should not have been on an evaluation license.

 

I manually assigned the existing license to the ESXi host, then removed the host from vCenter and re-added.

 

Problem solved.

On my Site, the problem still exists in Version 6.7.0 Build 13639324 (6.7U2a)

Why was the problem not fixed?

Migrating MSCS cluster VMs with RDMs to another Hosts/SAN.

hi

I have application role configured in Microsoft cluster (MSCS) on ESXi 6.5

 

MSCS cluster is configured with RDMs disk from 3PAR SAN.

 

Here is my requirement:

 

I need to copy or clone these VMs (with RDMs) to another vcenter server , another ESXi hosts and another SAN. and which is not 3par.

 

are there any possible ways.

 

if it is possible to convert to .vmdk from rdm and still bring back cluster and application online this will be fine with me.

Personally I don't have experience with Cisco UCS but there is an article in the VMware Knowledge Base about the assignment of device names.

The PS output engine gets confused after the Write-Host lines.

You can force the output to the console by using the Out-Default cmdlet.

Like this

Good morning,

 

I have new information about upgrade VCSA.

After I open support ticket, I restart VCENTER and I try again to make upgrade.

This time, upgrade has ended successfully.

All process to upgrade and restast VCENTER have ended correctly.

This is not in the scope of any patch release (e.g. 6.7U2a).

A fix will be part of a future update release.

I'm totally agree with you, my colleagues shouldn't change the IP address in the Guest OS,

 

but ... they did,  and now i have to fix their foolishness.

 

Maybe moving from internal IPAM to an external could be be the best solution, but currently it seems to me to complex to migrate 3000 Vms  (only 200 vms are concerned)

 

So, any other proposition ?

I just integrated external IPAM as a provider (using the SDK), so far it worked.

 

That is why I'm asking what issues I can expect.

How to set up one VM to automatically connect USB devices to it on resume

When a certain VM is resumed, all USB devices previously connected to it should be reconnected. This used to happen but not any more. What is the proper way to enable this feature in the current version? Ideally for one VM only and no other?

The value 0x2F is the ASCII code for a '/' character.
That gives you a hint that the problem might be with the destination name.

 

Try replacing that line with

 

   Copy-DatastoreItem-Item "c:\test\VM01\vm01.vmdk"-Destination 'ds:/Test'

There is nothing like "Linux kernel v5 code stream". And while 15.1.0 modules build against 5.0 kernel, they don't build against 5.1 which you can already find e.g. in openSUSE Tumbleweed.

 

Of course, VMware doesn't speak in terms of kernel version, for them it's a list of "supported host OS" which is of limited use as it only covers few selected distributions.

Hi Man_1986,

 

There are lots of manuals and videos online to help guide you through accessing the web UI to manage VMs.

 

You can try 6.5 but if your course is centred around 6.7 then going down a version isn't going to be of help, as there maybe wont be features or things in the same place in say 6.5 as there is in 6.7.

 

If your having issues with the VM when you power it on, after doing a full shut down, you could try a suspend. That way the machine is in a sleep state, but you dont have to reboot it. Other than that, your just have to plan for the time it takes for the services to restart themselves on reboot. Its something I have to plan for when I do maintenance on my hosts. As I have no way around it atm.

Disk Cann't extended in Windows Server 2012R2

i just get a request to extend a Disk on VM that has OS windows Server 2012 R2, i looked in vcenter the disk has already extended but i cann't extend it in Windows , the extend option is hidden.Cann't extend disk in windows Server 2012 R2.png
