Having issues with VDP & HP Data Protector Backups

Hello

I recently upgraded one of our vSphere environments to vSphere 5.1. Everything worked fine until I noticed that my VDR wasn't working. So I found its successor VDP and installed it. After a few hickups I managed to install it into my vSphere 5.1 vCenter.

After reading up on VDP it seems I cannot Backup a specific .vdmk file like in VDR. It's all or nothing. This isn't really good because we used to Backup our System partitions (C:) with VDR and the Data Partitions using HP Data Protector. It would take to long for VDP to Backup ev everything by itself.

How can VMware say that VDP is the new VDR Appliance, when it hasn't got all the features? Can anyone tell me if VDR works with vCenter 5.1? Until the feature, that you can choose wich .vdmk files to Backup, gets added I will have to use VDR. Maybe even have to go back to vSphere 5.0

Another Problem is.. when VDP makes a Backup of a VM, it stores them into its own .vmdk files (wich I have configured on to a NFS Mount wich is on a QNAP NAS). Now I want to write the Data on to tape. But I'm having issues because the Data is in the .vmdk files. Backup from NFS Shares directly wont work, because its a windows based System the vCenter Server I have mounted the NFS shares into.
