Hi all,
I am testing ESX 4.1 + Vcenter. One of the biggest problems I have is the poor performance when using RDP. The VMs installed are 2008x64, XPx32, 7x64, and Ubuntu desktop. Vcenter is installed on the 2008x64 VM. For testing purpose, I only have the 2008x64 and 1 XPx32 active. The 2008 server has 2 Gb RAM, and the XPx32 has 512 Mb. The server itself has 8 Gb RAM with a AMD Athlon II x4 620 Processor 2.61 GHz.
I have been googling on this RDP problem, and found that I am not the only one having a problem :-). Long story short, I think I understood that the the RDP problem was not a big suprise, when VMware wrote in the View product description: What virtualisation did for the servers, View is now doing for desktops.... .
In other words, I am to believe that the ESX 4.1 server never was meant to give top quality desktop experience. However, I wonder how this then should work when administating a Windows server... But now the question is if View 4.5 with PCoIP is the solution we are looking for :-).
So I am looking into that right now, and am wondering if I need to download the View 4.5 package and do a clean install of both ESX and Vcenter, or can I just install the View software on the same 2008x64 where I have my Vcenter installed?
Looking forward to any type of comments regarding this issue. Thank you in advance!
Regards,
The Satman
