Proxy settings can be configured under the VAMI Network Configuration. This is mentioned in the Network Configuration of the User's Guide.

1. The proxy setting is done through CIM SetProxySetting and for the supported Linux distributions the corresponding package managment configuration is set to use the proxy, this is in addition to setting the /etc/environment
2. Doesn't appear to.
3. Only http at the moment.
4. No, as mentioned in 1 the proxy setting is configured through the update to /etc/environment and the package management config.
