I am trying to manually recover a VM in vSphere 6.5. But I am getting an error "virtual machine's files are not replicated in the selected data center" when selecting the datacenter on the "Folder" tab
I have successfully managed to manually recover some other VMs but only getting this error on one VM.
Anyone who faced this error and managed to get passed this stage?

Is there any issue going directly from 6.5 Update 1 to 6.7 Update 2? I am using a Dell custom image.
I appears to be a supported path according to the documentation, but wondering what the experience of others has been.

I just switched machines so I want to redownload VMWare Workstation 14 and reapply the license key I have from my IT department. No matter what I do either the site gives me version 15 or it asks all kinds of stuff but still doesn't give me a download link. does anybody know a direct link to Workstation 14?
I have never seen such a convoluted process to just download something I already bought. It's really infuriating.
I did just such an upgrade a few days ago without issues.
Remember to upgrade vCenter first (in case it's in use), and consider to upgrade the host's (which I assume is supported by v6.7U2) firmware too.

Login to MyVMware using the account on which the license is registered. This will allow you to select the required version.

Thanks Andre. Ok, good. I am using a Dell custom image, so host should be supported? Is there anything in particular I should be concerned about? This is my first upgrade. I do not have vCenter right now.

sorry to ask you with that but I am out of ideas and can't belive what I see here.
The issue:
- Server 2008 R2 RDS are slow
- I identified with "diskspd.exe" that the IO und disk write speed is incradable low.
- IO from 9000 max to 200 min and throuput from max 60 MB/s and 1 MB/s
- Alle other systems on the same host and the same storage running with +- 40.000 IOs and +-250 MB/s
- During diskspeed test process go up until 70% CPU consumption. On normal system same host same storage 1%
The details:
- P2V mashine
- 2008 R2 patch level 03/2019
- Disk LSI SCSI adapter
Things I have tried:
- Added disk to another running mashine (additional disk). Speed are normal (+- 40.000 IOs and +-250 MB/s)
- Removed nearrly software, really!
- Stopped nearly every process!
- Removed all hidden unused hardware!
- Reinstalled VMWare Tools.
- Changed HW to VMWare Version 10 and VMWare Tools also to latest version.
- Created a fresh virtaul mashine without disk and added existing disk!
- Added more CPUs, Added more Cores. Removed CPUs tried it with 2 CPUs or with 1 etc.!
- Added a Para SCSI Controller with an test disk. Even on that test disk pore performance!
Every tests ended with slow perfomance. Expect to attach the disk to another VM with running OS.
If I add more CPUs than NUMA allow it will be even worth, perfomance go massive down! Funny part, other mashines same OS also P2V also fully overbooked with CPU but perfomance noraml (+- 40.000 IOs and +-250 MB/s / 1 % CPU during diskspd.exe)
We already reinstall system which will defintley fix the problem. But I try to understand what I missed here.
It has to be the OS itself. My feeling is that I face some CPU issue. I found under "Computer" -> "ACPI x64 based pc". Which I can see on other VMs as well which run normal.
Another idea was, that I face here with some disk filter driver. But as I sad I stopped every third party process, nearly every Windows process and removed nearly every software!
Anyone an idea what I could try?

I am using a Dell custom image, so host should be supported?
If Dell provides the image for your hardware, then you should be fine. Other than this, you may check hardware compatibility at VMware Compatibility Guide - System Search
The upgrade is pretty straight forward if you don't use custom hardware, which requires additional drivers. Anyway, it's always a good idea to have a backup in case something unexpected happens.

Hope not. Fusion 11 was out the same day than Mac Os Mojave ( and the Dark Mode Feature ). And Fusion is stated to support Mojave.
I see no reason that they will push this feature to the next version. In that case that means that we need to pay 2 times the Mojave support. and that's not fair from VMWare
Let's hope that they will bring the Dark "color" next updates...

I had installed VMware previously in my High Sierra installation but then I upgraded HDD and migrated my user profile to new installation. After a year I decided to install my last licensed VMware Fusion 6.0.6 so I downloaded it, opened .dmg and clicked the only installation icon in the image.
Nothing opened but I saw intensive disk activity. After a while the activity stopped so I looked to Launcher and found VMware icon so I executed it and it asked me something related to initialization, maybe it detected some files in Library folder of previous installation, I completely forgot what it was so I just selected one of two options and it showed WMware window that it is doing initialization. I think it asked for admin password two times, once when executed installation and second time when executed VMware from the Launcher.
Suddenly my running apps started showing errors so I checked processes consuming disk activity and I found only “chown” command:
chown -R -- root wheel
Then I noticed ownership of my home changed to root recursively so I killed it and changed user back, now I need to compare with backup group membership + check root filesystem because seems it was executed on / too. Now I am a bit scared to reboot my Mac because it behaves strangly and shows keychain issues despite ownership of my home is back and I fear it won’t boot.
Thus going to have long and productive evenings thanks to this amazing software.
I wonder if anyone experienced similar problem or could possibly say what was going on and how to prevent it. I still do have plan to use my licensed version of VMware for my virtual machines.

Good. But we didn't observe the same on 10.0.
What may be an option is to simple migrate the powered off VMs using the migration wizard, i.e. migrate host, and storage in a single step.

Or you could clone the VM, remove the nic and re-add it again. That should give the VM a new mac address. Another option is to clone the VM and then convert it into a template. Then create a new VM from that template. That should also work.

Here is the situation:
Using vCenter and ESXI 6.5
Using Horizon 7.6
Windows 10
1. After pool definition, pool creation starts.
2. Notice the template is created, then it deletes
3. Re-installed agent and ensured the Instant Clone option is selected and deselected those not needed (Persona & Composer drivers)
